CGMs give us valuable insights into the trending blood sugars throughout the day vs at a point in time, if we use finger pricks. Although applying a CGM is not “pain free”, that one time pain in X number of days vs multiple pricks within ONE day, definitely works better for my boy (who has a low tolerance of pain).Continuous monitoring, coupled with high and low alerts and the CGM app’s ability to share readings with family members, enabled us to act accordingly to avoid any life threatening situations.

For new CGM users, there are now more choices in the market. Factors to consider can include the cost, no. of days the CGM can be worn, the ability to follow the readings, the accuracy of the CGM (MARD), the replacement policy, the need for a transmitter, ability to calibrate etc.
