Foot ulcers and amputations are potential consequences of nerve (diabetic neuropathy) and/or blood vessel damage (peripheral arterial disease) from poorly controlled diabetes. Early detection and recognition through diabetic foot screening and early intervention and treatment for diabetes patients with feet at-risk of ulcers and amputations can delay and prevent adverse outcomes.
Our clinics in Jurong and Boon Keng, along with our mobile clinics offer Diabetic Foot Screening services, provided by our trained nurses. We perform a comprehensive foot evaluation to identify risk factors for foot ulcers and amputations.
The services that we provide include:
Screen and identify foot problems in patients with diabetes
Provide education on proper foot care and good glucose control to reduce the risk of foot complications
Referring patients who smoke or who have previously experienced prior foot ulcers, loss of protective sensation, structural abnormalities, or peripheral arterial disease that may put them at higher risk to foot care specialists for ongoing preventive care, active intervention if necessary, and lifelong surveillance.
