Diabetic Retinal Photography

In people with diabetes, high blood sugars over a prolonged period of time can lead to damage to the retina (diabetic retinopathy), which can lead to blindness. As such, early detection and monitoring of the eyes are essential to prevent and delay sight-threatening retinopathy and blindness.

Diabetic Retinal Photography (DRP)

At Diabetes Singapore, we offer Diabetic Retinal Photography (DRP) screening at our clinics in Jurong and Boon Keng, as well as in our mobile clinics. We provide screenings using AI technology, to ensure time-efficient and accurate diagnosis for our patients.

Why do we use AI technology?

This AI technology, grounded in deep learning, is capable of making quick and accurate decisions on differentiating those with or without an eye condition. The technology enables automated retinal image analysis to provide recommendations on referable versus non-referable conditions to identify patients with more than mild Diabetic Retinopathy, as well as those that potentially have other conditions such as glaucoma and/or Macular Degeneration. It reduces the time taken to detect and decide on referrals. At Diabetes Singapore, our staff are certified and qualified to manage this technology responsibly and effectively.
