Female, 3 years with T1D

I got diagnosed in year 1 of my uni and adapting to both a new social life and managing my blood sugars was really tough, on top of coping with my studies. I didn’t know how to tell my new friends that overnight, I got diagnosed with T1D. However, overtime as I got closer to them, I started opening up to them about my struggles with T1D and they were really responsive, always ensuring that whatever we ate both in and out of school didn’t have a lot of carbs or sugar and not being afraid to ask questions about my diagnosis. They took care of me really well and for that I’m really grateful!
