Insulin resistance

Updated On Jan 12, 2022

A person with insulin resistance is unable to easily use sugar from their blood for energy. This is because their muscles, fat, and liver cells don’t respond to insulin well or are resistant or cannot use insulin effectively. Consequently, your pancreas produces more insulin to help glucose enter your cells. Your blood sugar levels therefore rise over time.

Type-2 diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and obesity are problems related to insulin resistance syndrome.
