We had the privilege of having our guest-of-honour the Mayor of South West District Ms. Low Yen Ling in support of this initiative.

About the campaign

Beating Diabetes Together (BD Care Pack) is an initiative supported by Becton, Dickinson and Company, launched in 2021. This campaign was sparked in response to there being a gap in the insulin-dependent community, who struggle with poor insulin injection techniques, which in fact is one of the causes of uncontrolled blood sugar levels. For this campaign, Becton, Dickinson and Company have kindly donated 2,400 diabetic care packs, entailing BD Ultra-Fine PRO 4mm diabetic pen needles, alcohol swabs and a home sharps container for safe disposals of needles after use. The care packs will be distributed to 600 beneficiaries 4 times over the span of one year. The only criteria for the beneficiaries are that they must be: insulin-dependent, diabetic, and referred to by a social worker (or similar)/come from a lower-income group. Diabetes Singapore have been reaching out to grassroot organisations, senior care centres as well as hospitals to find beneficiaries that may benefit from this care pack. These products are FREE and will ensure that insulin injection will not be painful and uncomfortable for them, due to the quality of the product.
